Tapestry project! Join in at Wageningen University!: Threads of our Dutch Slavery Past (Draden van ons Nederlands Slavernijverleden)

Collaborate and contribute to a monumental tapestry about the Dutch Slavery past.

The Cultural Geography Chair Group at Wageningen University and Research is the host and coordinator for the making of a piece of the tapestry of the project  ‘Threads of our Dutch Slavery Past’. In an earlier iteration of the project last Spring we moved around various locations on campus and in the city centre of Wageningen. For this edition, we are delighted to have a fixed location of the FORUM Building of Wageningen University & Research. We invite you to join us on the stage/podium on the ground level/entrance of the FORUM Building. Here will will be working on the design below into a tapestry of embroidery, tufting and quilting.

The monumental tapestry is not just an artwork; it is a collective memory, a fabric of stories and histories that connects us to our ancestors and to each other. Working together to create a piece that reflects the rich, diverse and complex history of the society and province of Gelderland. The tapestry will be a tangible evidence of collaboration and collective creativity.

Join us in this unique opportunity to immortalise the Gelderland story of the shared colonial slavery past in this tapestry. A sense of collective shared past is an important foundation for working towards a better future.
