Save the date! 350 days left before this exciting international conference takes place in Amsterdam and Wageningen, The Netherlands. This ‘Tourism, memory and heritage’ conference will be the second edition after the very successful first edition that took place back in 2023. I am convening the 2026 edition as a kick-off conference of my ERC Starting Grant project: FRICTIONS.

For this conference in 2026 we will be paying a closer attention to the ’emotional geographies of cultural production, memory-making and commemoration’ in the context of tourism’s intersection with cultural memory politics based on various forms of (contentious) shared heritages across different geographies.

More details on the conceptual grounding of the conference and info on the call for participation will follow. I am just excited about this conference and already looking forward to a rich intellectual and policy/practice oriented discussions.
